It was from the cracks in the earth, and the dark places we all overlook from which they came, The Shadows with the Burning Eyes. They moved much faster than we could, and they slashed and tore at everyone and everything they could find. Nothing could hurt them, bullets went right through them, and knives would have required being too close, and would have been even more useless than guns.
